| The Wings of Healing is a non-political organisation whose mission is to help people in need, whether in a medical, educational or cultural capacity. Its aim is to take action in Belgium, but also internationally. Their first project, “Compassionate Hearts for Palestine”, aims to help Palestinians in distress in Gaza, particularly children. They provide practical help through a school and a pediatric and dermatological clinic in a tent. The project was born of a meeting between Dr Ahmed Almoghrabi and Belgian film-maker Delphine Noels. Dr. Ahmed Almoghrabi, a surgeon, was head of the plastic surgery and burns department at the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younès from 2021 to 2024. He fled Gaza under the bombs and took refuge in Belgium in October 2024. Since then, he and Delphine have been working to support his former colleagues and the people of Gaza, supported by a Belgian and an international team. The association has opened a clinic and a school in Dar El Balah. The clinic has been in operation since May 2024: a dermatologist, a pediatrician, a nurse and a doctor who is both a psychologist and a nutritionist, provide completely free care to 100 to 150 patients a day. The association supports families in Gaza (purchase of tents) and refugee families in Cairo (accommodation). A “prostheses” project in collaboration with the Belgian company Ugani Prosthetics is in preparation https://ugani.org , aimed at providing free prostheses to amputees in Gaza. |
